Airframe Structural Components
FSC 1560: Airframe Structural Components
Federal Supply Class (FSC) 1560 covers the structural components of aircraft airframes for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms. These parts are manufactured to NAS, AN, and MIL-SPEC tolerances and are stocked for depot-level and field-level maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
Airframe structural components carry flight and ground loads and define the shape and strength of the aircraft. They are replaced during scheduled overhaul, battle damage repair, and service-life extension programs to keep aging fleets airworthy.
Typical items include fuselage frames, longerons, ribs, spars, skins, bulkheads, stringers, and access doors. They are fabricated from aluminum alloys, titanium, high-strength steel, and increasingly from carbon fiber composites for weight savings.
